Purpose: To describe the clinicopathologic features of a patient with a huge corneal dermoid-like mass in the left malformed eye.
Design:One case report and literature review.
Methods: The clinical and pathological findings in a patient with a large corneal dermoid-like mass in the left malformed eye are reviewed and classified.
Results: One patient presented with a huge corneal dermoid-like mass in the left malformed eye. The B scan indicated the involvement of both anterior and posterior segments of the eye. There is no significant size difference between the eyes, as confirmed by the CT scan. Histopathologic examination revealed a dermoid-like structure without cutaneous skin appendages.
Conclusions: This case presented a unique type of corneal dermoid-like mass not adhering to conventional classifications. It differs from other similar cases due to the involvement of both anterior and posterior segments but lacking microphthalmia. It is also distinctive from previously reported dermoid cases because of the histopatholocial differences.
