Abstract
·AIM ： To evaluate the therapeutic e仟ect of phacoe—muIsification with posterior chamber intraocular Iens(IOL) implantation and to investigate the key to thetreatment of complicated cata racts．
· METHODS： PhacoemuIsification with implantation of lOL was performed on 558 eyes of537caseswith complicated cataracts such as ha rd nuclear cata ract，high myopia complicated cataracts． diabetic cataract or cataract com bined with glaucoma and so on th roughsitu phacoemulsification (modified stop and chop)． 1n—traoperative and pOst0peratjve com plications， bestcorrected visual acuity (BCVA)one month after sergery
were observed．
·RESULTS：At postoperative orle m onth， the BCVAwas≥0．5 in 437 eyes (78．3％ )，0．2 to 0．4 in 92eyes(16．5％)， ≤ 0．1 in 29 eyes (5．2％)。The majorcomplications were posterior capsule rupture (21 eyes，3．8％)；lens nucleus into the vitreous(1 eye，0．2％)；corneal edema (21 2 eyes，38．0％ )；flash of aqueoushum0r(363 eyes，65．1％)and iridal inju ry (2 eyes，0．4％ )．
·CONCLUSION： The character of va rious com plicatedcata racts must be understood entirely． W ith masteredsurgery technology，carefully and skilIfully perioperation，we will get well effect on com plicated cataract byphacoemuIsification with posterior chamber IOL implan—tation．
