　　Wavefront Optimized vs. Wavefront-Guided Photorefractive Keratectomy: A Retrospective Database Comparison of Six-Month Outcomes

　　Purpose: To determine which laser platform for PRK is better: wavefront guided or wavefront optimized.

　　Methods: 481 eyes status post wavefront-optimized PRK were age matched with 481 eyes status post wavefront-guided PRK. Eyes were stratified according to refractive error and age. The BSCVA, low contrast VA, and the percentage of patients achieving better than 20/20 VA (“super vision”) were compared.

　　Results: Low contrast VA and super vision were significantly better with wavefront guided PRK in the over-40 age group.

　　Conclusion:Wavefront-guided treatments account for aberrations induced by the aging eye and may offer better results in older patients.
