2.2.7α受体阻滞剂
目前应用较多的可乐定、氯可乐定及阿法根降眼压效果较好。Yolea等[14]证实腹膜内注射阿法根可提高大鼠视神经机械性损伤后RGCs的存活和功能，对视神经退行性变具有保护作用。
2.2.8热休克蛋白
热休克蛋白(heatshockprotein，HSP)属于内源性神经保护因子,可提高细胞对不良刺激的耐受性，清除细胞内变性蛋白，维持RGCs自身的稳定。Kelly等[15]发现HSP 70在青光眼动物实验中具有神经保护作用。但临床应用尚需时日。
2.2.9基因治疗
基因工程的进展使基因治疗眼科疾病成为可能。Martinou等[16]成功地在一转基因鼠系中表达了凋亡抑制基因(B Cell Leukemia 2,BCL2)，使RGCs数量增加了50%,同时伴有内丛状层增厚。但是基因治疗青光眼尚存在着转基因载体的改进、降低毒副作用等各方面的问题。
2.2.10中医药
中医药在青光眼视神经保护方面具有一定的优势。现代药理学研究证实，许多中药具有改善微循环、抗血栓、降低血液粘滞度、提高机体抗氧化能力、清除自由基、减轻缺血再灌注损伤等多方面的药理作用。从中医药中发掘青光眼视功能保护的药物越来越受到医学界的重视。
3青光眼术中用药
青光眼术中用药直接作用于Schlemm管，松解细胞外间质，利用抗细胞代谢药物及免疫调节剂抑制细胞有丝分裂及肌动蛋白聚合和调节免疫功能，干扰滤泡瘢痕的形成，疏通房水流出通道，可提高青光眼滤过手术的效果[17]，常用的有氟尿嘧啶、丝裂霉素、紫杉醇、依托泊苷、干扰素等。
近年来青光眼新药不断推出，眼部控释系统给药研究也进一步深入，药物治疗青光眼仍有较大的发展空间，加之循证医学的发展，个性化的药物治疗势在必行，临床医师根据患者的基线眼压水平、视功能损害程度、生活背景等因素的不同，制定适合不同患者的个体化治疗方案，也将为青光眼治疗开辟新的途径。
